Amides and Related Functional Groups

چکیده
Recall that nitrogen has five valence electrons and therefore requires three electrons or bonds to complete its octet (see Amine Tutorial). Based on this valence and bonding order, nitrogen forms three bonds in its neutral state and maintains one pair of non-bonded electrons (NBEs). In amides one of the three bonds is a carbonyl carbon. Thus amides may be viewed as "acylated amines" or as derivatives of carboxylic acids in which the -OH of the acid has been replaced by -NR2 where R= H, alkyl, aryl, etc.):

Acylation of Grignard reagents mediated by N-methylpyrrolidone: a remarkable selectivity for the synthesis of ketones.
An efficient user-friendly method of acylation of Grignard reagents to selectively synthesize ketones is presented, which is assisted by simple amides such as NMP, or DMF. The present chemoselective method tolerates a variety of functional groups such as ketone, ester, nitrile and other functional groups.

Mesoporous MCM-41 silicas anchored with sulfonic acid (–SO3H) groups (denoted MSN-SA) via postsynthesis modification are very effective for the Beckman rearrangement. A simple and convenient procedure for conversion of a variety oximes to their corresponding amides and lactams has been developed. The reaction was carried out in the presence of MSN-SA as the catalyst. The best results for conver...

An efficient strategy for the oxidative carbonylation of aromatic amides via C-H/N-H activation to form phthalimides using an Rh(III) catalyst has been developed. The reaction shows a preference for C-H bonds of electron-rich aromatic amides and tolerates a variety of functional groups.
متن کاملDirect reductive coupling of secondary amides: chemoselective formation of vicinal diamines and vicinal amino alcohols.
We report the first one-pot reductive homocoupling reaction of secondary amides and cross-coupling reaction of secondary amides with ketones to give secondary vicinal diamines and amino alcohols. This method relies on the direct generation of α-amino carbon radicals from secondary amides by activation with trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride, partial reduction with triethylsilane and samarium di...
